Since its launch in September 2022, the Shanghai Qingpu (Yangtze River Delta) Pioneering Park, located in the Qingpu area of the Hongqiao International Central Business District, has welcomed 83 entrepreneurial enterprises and 81 incubation projects, attracting over 200 Chinese graduates returning from prestigious universities overseas, according to local official reports.

As graduation season approaches, the park is bustling with activity. The park provides significant policy support for returnees, including office space rent reductions for up to three years, housing subsidies of up to 3,000 yuan ($413.49), and loan interest subsidies of up to 80,000 yuan. Additionally, the park's service management center offers services like company registration, tax representation, project application, and legal consultations, facilitating a seamless process from ideation to project implementation.

The park also organizes activities aimed at helping the returnees understand the local entrepreneurial environment, support policies, and cultural history. For instance, it hosted an entrepreneurship camp in July that aided returnees from top universities like Oxford and Cambridge in establishing projects in Shanghai. Regular activities include project roadshows, policy salons, expert training sessions, and investment matchmaking events, providing a platform for interaction and exchange.

Moreover, the park is expanding its reach internationally with plans to organize promotional events in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Spain in August, building bridges for more overseas students to return to China for employment and entrepreneurship purposes.

One success story is Sui He, a dual master's degree holder from Oxford and Cambridge, who established Shanghai Qiyan Technology Co Ltd in May. Sui's company aims to address employment and entrepreneurship challenges for returning talent, providing tailored career development strategies and connecting with domestic innovation and investment funds.

"After evaluating several parks across China, we chose the Qingpu park because it offers the most practical and beneficial support for our entrepreneurial efforts, with its supportive policies, comfortable office environment, and excellent service management capabilities," said Sui.

The park's projects cover diverse industries, aligning with Qingpu's industrial focus on large conferences, commerce, and scientific innovation. The park's robust policy support, prime location, and diverse office environment aim to assist more returning talent in finding employment and launching their entrepreneurship journey.
