As night falls, crowds gather in front of the newly inaugurated Tajik parliament building in the heart of Dushanbe, looking to hang out and take photos. This grand, dignified, and elegant structure has quickly become a novel landmark.

The building, which was completed on July 5, was constructed with support from the Yantai-based Yanjian Group. It began construction on Aug 25, 2020, taking nearly four years to finish, and marks a significant achievement in co-building the Belt and Road between Tajikistan and China.

In a bid to strengthen the local identity, the building seamlessly blends Tajik architecture with Chinese construction techniques. The project's design was overseen by Tajikistan's national design agency, with Chinese involvement in evaluating the design, conducting joint geological surveys, and supervising the construction process for quality, progress, safety, and investment.

"Tajik residents have many expectations for this Chinese-assisted building, and during my work here, friends and family have often asked about the construction progress," said Mustafo, a local worker who worked on the building.

Han Chunlei, general manager of the Yanjian Group, highlighted that the project created over 3,000 jobs for the local community and introduced advanced Chinese manufacturing technologies to the region.

Since obtaining qualification as a foreign aid project implementation enterprise in 2004, Yanjian Group has been actively bidding for foreign aid projects under the Ministry of Commerce, successfully undertaking nearly 100 projects in 20 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. Notably, the group's construction of the National Art Theatre in Sri Lanka received Shandong province's first China Construction Engineering Luban Prize (Overseas Projects).
