Finnish company Valmet signed an agreement on July 9 to establish its China technology service center in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as Wuxi New District.
Renowned for providing competitive products and services to the pulp, paper, and energy industries, Valmet opened its first service center in WND in 2001. Over the past two decades, the center has grown to become Valmet's largest service hub in China.
Valmet plans to invest approximately $100 million in this new project, which includes relocating the existing factory, expanding workshop areas, and introducing smart equipment to enhance work efficiency, product quality, and delivery capabilities. This investment aims to further strengthen Valmet's competitiveness in the Chinese market.
Additionally, the company plans to establish a global financial operations center and an international logistics center in Wuxi to better serve customers in China and around the world.
At the signing ceremony, Anu Vuori- Kikeri, the consul general of Finland in Shanghai, highlighted Wuxi's complete industrial system, robust innovation, and excellent business environment. She noted that Wuxi's strategic focus on green development aligns with Finland's push for a circular economy, suggesting bright prospects for cooperation between the two parties.
