Xi'an in China's top 10 cities with most intl communication influence

The 2023 China City International Communication Influence Report was released on July 2, with Xi'an securing the ninth spot.

Jointly published by the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University, the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the International Communication Development Research Center of China Daily, and the New Media Center of China Daily, the report takes a global perspective.

The evaluation of the international communication influence of Chinese cities is based on five primary indicators and nine secondary indicators, including overseas exposure, media attention, online discussions, regional influence, and international reputation.

Among the other cities in the top 10 are Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Chengdu, Nanjing, Guangzhou, and Chongqing.

Xi'an, the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, bears witness to the vicissitudes of Chinese civilization. Today, the city also serves as a modern hub linking various countries in Central Asia.

The successful hosting of the China-Central Asia Summit and the record-breaking achievements of the China-Europe freight train (Xi'an) have drawn global attention to Xi'an, showcasing the city's immense potential in economic, trade, and cultural exchanges with both domestic and international partners.

On social media platforms, hashtags such as #ChineseHistory, #Hanfu, and #TangDynasty have sparked discussions about the city.

Xi'an has attracted countless admirers, both at home and abroad. During holidays, the city's popular attractions and food streets are always bustling with people.

In recent years, Xi'an has implemented various measures to attract a large number of international tourists, offering them an enhanced tourism and consumption experience. Many Xi'an residents have noted the increasing presence of international visitors on the city's streets.
