Wuxi, HK collaborate in scientific innovation

Wuxi and Hong Kong have witnessed increasingly strong collaboration in scientific innovation since 1997.

The two cities have maintained sound scientific innovation cooperation and after the proposal to establish an integrated development area for scientific innovation and industries in 2021, they have inked numerous projects.

Last year, during the Wuxi delegation's visit to HK, preliminary agreements were reached on 16 projects with a combined investment of about 300 million yuan ($41.26 million), while during its visit to HK this year, preliminary agreements were reached on four projects.

Wuxi and HK have built various partnerships over the past years to introduce the innovative resources of HK's universities and institutes to Wuxi. For example, the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as Wuxi New District, collaborated with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU) last year to establish the Wuxi Institute of Science and Technology Innovation of HKPU.

Wuxi has also sought to establish cooperation mechanisms with universities in Guangdong, HK and Macao. Last year, the city established cooperative relations with seven renowned HK universities including the City University of Hong Kong.

In the future, Wuxi will continue accelerating its cooperation with HK and other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in talent cultivation, host talent-themed activities, and implement measures benefiting young people in HK and Macao looking to start businesses in Wuxi.
