Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as Wuxi New District, has become the first in the city to deploy intelligent initial rainwater separation devices. These devices collect and settle the initial rainwater before discharging it into the sewage system, effectively mitigating pollution and improving the water quality of local rivers.
So far, over 350 units have been installed across residential communities, enterprises, and institutions in WND.
Initial rainwater often contains high levels of pollutants as it dissolves acidic gases, vehicle emissions, and industrial fumes from the air, and washes surfaces like buildings, roads, and plants.
The intelligent devices can also automatically differentiate between initial and later rainwater based on rainfall duration or volume, ensuring efficient and effective separation. This innovative approach marks a significant step in environmental management and urban water resource protection for Wuxi.
