Three tons of Sanya's renowned red dragon fruits departed from Meicun village, Tianya district, on June 17, destined for Shenzhen, Guangdong province. From Shenzhen's Yantian Port, this shipment is poised to proceed to Vancouver, Canada, arriving 23 days later.

This shipment represents the first-ever export of Sanya's dragon fruits to Canada, signifying their compliance with European and American quality standards.

As one of Sanya's signature fruits, red dragon fruits attract consumers with their unique flavor and nutritional value. Leveraging advanced preservation techniques, these dragon fruits maintain an extended shelf life of up to 30 days, ensuring freshness and sweetness upon arrival in Canada.

"With this successful venture, Sanya's red dragon fruits are set to venture into additional overseas markets like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, and beyond," said Wei Dinghao, general manager of Nanning Xianhu Guoyu Trading, the company overseeing for this fruit trade.

The debut export to Canada not only accelerates local agricultural industrialization but also uplifts farmers' incomes, setting a benchmark for the industry, Wei added.

Sanya's distinctive light-temperature conditions and favorable climatic advantages position it as a prime region for dragon fruit cultivation. With rapid growth in the city's dragon fruit industry, encompassing approximately 8,850 mu (570 hectares), annual fresh fruit sales reach up to 300 million yuan ($41.3 million).
