Wuxi promotes culture, tourism attractions in S Korea

A delegation from the Wuxi municipal bureau of culture, broadcasting and tourism visited Seoul, South Korea from June 16 to 17 to showcase the unique cultural charm of Wuxi, Jiangsu province as part of the province's promotional efforts.

At the promotional conference, the Wuxi delegation introduced the Chinese city's various attractions from the plum blossoms at its Plum Garden and the cherry blossoms at Yuantouzhu scenic area, to the water alleys along the Grand Canal and the rosy clouds over Taihu Lake.

The delegation also showcased the bamboo forest in Yixing, Buddhist sound at Lingshan Mountain scenic area, and equestrian dressage at Feima Water Town.

At Xihui Park in Wuxi, there stands a monument marking the visit of a South Korean called Choe Bu to Wuxi in 1488, when he took a boat to the Korean Peninsula but arrived in Wuxi by accident. After he returned, he wrote down the story of his adventure, which served to bridge the friendship between Wuxi and South Korea.

During the conference, representatives from the municipal bureau and the culture and tourism departments at the district level discussed collaboration with participants from culture and tourism communities in South Korea.
