The installation of a 10-kilovolt power transmission line connecting to neighboring country Mongolia – manufactured in Baotou city, located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – was completed on June 9.

The power line cost 175,000 yuan ($24,120) and it was installed by Baotou Damao Power Supply Co, a unit of Inner Mongolia Power Group based in Baotou city.

It marked the official commissioning of the company's second 10 kV power transmission line to Mongolia.

The line, which is 795 meters long, involved the erection of 15 new power poles. It runs from the 922 Manyuan Line of the Mandula 110 kV substation to Mandula land port on the China-Mongolia border.

For nearly 20 years, Baotou has been supplying power to the Mandula (China)-Khangi (Mongolia) Port. In 2005, Baotou Damao Power Supply Co switched on the new 914 Mandula Port line for the 35 kV pasture substation – ending power shortages at the land port.

On Oct 10, 2018, a 10 kV power transmission line with a total length of 4.87 kilometers was extended from Khangi Port in Mongolia to the residential area of Khangi Port in Dornogovi province, Mongolia.

In recent years, with the continued development of China-Mongolia trade, the demand for electricity at the port has been increasing.

In 2024, the power utility in the Dornogovi province in Mongolia proposed the construction of another 10 kV line.

With the approval of Baotou, Baotou Damao Power Supply Co quickly built the new 10 kV line to meet the electricity demand of the 14 new transformers in Mongolia with a total capacity of 3,350 kilovolt-ampere, ensuring the synchronization of power upgrades.

According to staff at Baotou Damao Power Supply Co, the new line will be connected to the 10 kV line built by the power utility in Dornogovi province in Mongolia – fully addressing the power needs of industrial customers in the surrounding areas of Khangi Port in that country.
