The Hohhot Economic and Technological Development Zone focused on electronics and electromechanical industries over two decades ago and as a result it is now thriving due to advancements in new energy technologies.

On June 16, resident business Liwu (Inner Mongolia) Intelligent Technology Co began assembling its first self-developed photovoltaic cleaning robot.

The robot, expected to debut at the ZeLin Agriculture 40 megawatts solar power station by September, is expected to significantly reduce cleaning costs and boost efficiency by increasing cleaning frequency from quarterly to weekly, or even daily cycles.

Liwu Technology's decision to establish its photovoltaic division in the development zone is said to be strategic, leveraging the area's robust industry support and market potential.

In 2024, the photovoltaic material industry supply chain, led by companies like Canadian Solar and Huayao Optoelectronics, plans to implement 10 projects, with eight set to start production within the year.

The development zone is understood to have strategically positioned itself in key industries: New materials, equipment manufacturing and future industries, all heavily intertwined with new energy.

Notable projects, such as Shuangjie Electric's new energy high-end equipment base, are said to reflect the region's strong policy incentives and commitment to becoming a national energy base.

Furthermore, the development zone's comprehensive industrial clusters and support policies – including the city's "1+2+N" new energy policy and the "Six Projects" initiative – aim to drive the transformation of traditional energy industries and expand green energy solutions.

As a result, the future of Hohhot's economic development is firmly anchored in these new energy advancements.
