China's first self-developed narrow-body jet C919 will open its fourth regular commercial route between Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in southern Guangdong province starting Friday (June 14) , according to C919's first global customer China Eastern Airlines.

The new flight by C919 will offer tourists more air traveling options by the jetliner. The other three regular routes conducted by C919 aircraft are Shanghai-Beijing, Shanghai-Chengdu (in Sichuan province) and Shanghai-Xi'an (in Shaanxi province), said the Shanghai-based carrier.

China Eastern received the sixth C919 jetliner in late May from its manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC), making its C919 fleet reach six.

In response to the rising interest of traveling in Altay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region inspired by the TV show To the Wonder, China Eastern plans to launch regular flights between Shanghai and Altay, as well as Shanghai and Yining, also in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region since June 22.

The two new regular flights are among a slew of domestic and international flights launched by China Eastern to meet the needs of family outings and students' traveling in the summer season.

China Eastern conducted 8,042 flights and safely handled 1.08 million passenger trips during the three-day-long Dragon Boat Festival ending Monday.
