Ningbo, Zhejiang province kicked off a three-day event dedicated to the promotion and display of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) on June 6, according to Ningbo Daily.
The festivities started with a parade featuring various ICH items, including the majestic Meishan Lion Dance, the rhythmic Xiepu Boat Drum, and the enchanting Fenghua Dragon Dance. The performances drew large crowds of spectators eager to witness the unique charm of the traditional arts.
As part of the celebrations, a comprehensive "1+N" system was implemented, encompassing exhibitions, performances, cultural salons, launches, and bazaars. The system aimed to provide a comprehensive platform for the display and promotion of ICH, highlighting its unique beauty and spiritual significance.
At the opening ceremony, a series of books chronicling the oral histories of Ningbo's ICH representatives was launched, and the top 10 folk stories of Ningbo were announced, showcasing the city's rich folklore and storytelling traditions.
To recognize the efforts of those preserving and promoting ICH, several awards were presented to outstanding ICH workshops, experience bases, traditional craft workshops, and tea spaces.
The ICH performances section was a highlight of the event, featuring rotating acts that showcased the diversity and beauty of traditional arts. The performances transported audiences to a world of cultural wonder.
The "ICH Bazaar" was another attraction, gathering over a hundred ICH specialties from across the country. It not only showcased Ningbo's ICH items but also introduced ICH products and traditions from other regions, promoting cultural exchange and understanding.
