Taixing city semiconductor sector training center launched

The Taixing High-tech Zone – located in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – held the opening ceremony for the new Yangtze River Delta Semiconductor Industry Talent Cultivation Base and a professional engineer training camp on June 6.

More than 100 representatives from 16 universities and 42 integrated circuits enterprises, as well as industry associations and institutes, participated in the event.

The training center was constructed by the Semiconductor Technology Talent Education Professional Committee, in collaboration with many renowned universities such as Tsinghua University, Shandong University and Suzhou University.

The facility is liaising and working with a number of Chinese universities to invest in experimental and training equipment. It is understood to be focused on providing industry talent training, process development verifications and advanced technology achievement commercialization services for integrated circuits enterprises.

Taixing Mayor Liu Wenrong said that the Taixing High-tech Zone had taken the lead in laying out the key equipment industry and had secured an important share in the key equipment, packaging and testing functional sectors of the semiconductor industry in the city.

Qin Shu, secretary-general of Jiangsu Semiconductor Association, said the new center would focus on the integration of university and enterprise – as well as industry and education – actively exploring the cultivation models for cross-disciplinary, integrated and engineering-oriented talent.

A promotion and opening ceremony for a professional engineer training camp was also held during the event.
