The Guiyang bureau of forest will turn the Ahahu National Wetland Park into the core green area of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, by improving forest quality, investigating forest resources, preventing and controlling forest fires, and creating green spaces at parks.

These efforts aim to promote the ecological construction, protection, and utilization of forestry in the Aha Lake area and create a high-quality living space for local people.

Careful planning will be done for forest quality improvement projects, with a focus on the 77,700 mu (5,180 hectares) of forest land in the Aha Lake area.

Six million yuan is expected to be invested in 2024 to implement forest quality improvement projects in key areas such as Huaxi district, Guanshanhu district, Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Ahahu National Wetland Park, including adjustments to tree species structure, rural area greening, and forest nurturing projects. Gradually, the landscape and quality of the forests in the Aha Lake area will be improved.

Building upon existing forestry resource data, ancient and valuable trees in the Aha Lake area will be comprehensively documented, and their precise locations will be recorded for targeted conservation efforts.

An investigation will be launched to evaluate and analyze the current status of forest, grassland and wetland resources in the Aha Lake area, determine forestry development goals, promote the protection and improvement of forestry, and strengthen the conservation of biodiversity.

In addition, efforts will be made to ensure disaster control and safety. Considering spring farming activities, seasons, and the forest environment, measures will be implemented to control fire sources within the 100 square kilometers of the Aha Lake area and its surrounding forests.

Surveys will be conducted during the winter period to assess harmful forestry pests and emergency preparedness. Prevention measures will also be strengthened to enhance the protection capabilities of forest resources in the area and ensure their safety.

Furthermore, special attention will be given to creating recreational spaces. With a focus on Ahahu National Wetland Park, a nationally designated demonstration site, efforts will be made to consolidate and enhance its ecological functions.

This includes restoring 3,000 square meters of greenery, planting over 370 trees, restoring 22 regional monitoring network facilities and streetlights, and repairing safety barriers, road shoulders, and drainage networks. The aim is to meet the entertainment, leisure, and fitness needs of citizens.
