Some 2,048 senior talents from more than 300 domestic and international universities gathered in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province on May 29 for a two-day trip to learn about the city's living and working environment.

"Shanxi is a place you can count on, and Taiyuan is a city worth living in," said Li Hua, who graduated with a doctoral degree in 2017 and joined the China Institute for Radiation Protection in Taiyuan. He was introducing Taiyuan to the group of young seniors.

Wang Xianlin, a doctoral candidate majoring in civil engineering at Tongji University, expressed excitement about the event, saying he is considering living and working in the city.

During the visit, a total of 168 employers will offer 3,420 jobs in various industries such as education, culture, healthcare, power and energy, transportation, tourism, and scientific research.

Doctoral candidates who choose to work in Taiyuan within two years of graduation will be eligible to enjoy a subsidy of up to 530,000 yuan ($73,107.59), in addition to their salaries.

This subsidy includes a monthly living allowance of 5,000 yuan for five years, a tuition fee subsidy of 30,000 yuan, and a housing subsidy of 200,000 yuan. If they engage in project research and technological innovation, they will also receive research project funding ranging from 50,000 to 200,000 yuan.
