The European Branch of the Hubei Sci-tech Innovation Platform was recently inaugurated in the China Belgium Technology Center (CBTC) in Louvain-la-Neuve, Wallonia, Belgium.

Belgium is one of the most active countries in Europe when it comes to R&D activities, and has the highest per capita spending on biopharmaceutical R&D. The CBTC, located in the core area of the European Union, has become the preferred site for technological exchange and industrial cooperation between Chinese and European enterprises and various organizations.

Hubei province and the Walloon region are sister provinces with enormous potential and extensive opportunities for cooperation in areas such as transportation and logistics, biopharmaceuticals, green development, and the digital economy. Both sides plan to leverage the new branch to advance more sci-tech innovation projects in key areas of life sciences, clean energy, and digital technology.

In the future, Hubei aims to create an efficient innovation ecosystem by integrating resources from the government, industry, academic research, and financial services. Efforts will be intensified to attract high-tech talents, enterprises, and technological achievements from overseas.

Additionally, a special industrial fund will be established to support high-tech project cooperation between China and Europe.
