Ningbo bridges cultures through global photography exhibitions

Ningbo, a hub for foreign trade with a robust network of 25,000 foreign trade enterprises and numerous overseas factories, has embarked on a unique initiative to deepen cultural understanding among its overseas workforce and showcase China's vibrant culture to the world.

On May 23, the "Opportunities from China, Collaboration with Ningbo: Enterprise & Business Exhibitions around the World" photography exhibition series officially commenced in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The initiative involves organizing 100 photography exhibitions at 100 overseas factories belonging to Ningbo-based companies.

With a significant presence in Cambodia, where 28 Ningbo enterprises employ over 120,000 workers, the city aims to break down cultural barriers and foster a deeper understanding among employees from diverse backgrounds.

"Through these exhibitions, we hope to give overseas employees a window into Chinese culture, particularly the rich heritage and unique charm of Ningbo," said the head of the Ningbo Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia. "This will not only enhance mutual understanding but also strengthen the cohesion within our international workforce."

The exhibition features 90 photographs that capture the essence of Ningbo's culture, from its bustling ports and industrial landscapes to its serene water towns and traditional crafts. The images showcase the city's dynamism, openness, and inclusiveness.

A special section dedicated to Buddhist culture is also included at the exhibition, highlighting the unique charm and similarities between the Chinese and Cambodian cultures.

Each photograph is accompanied by bilingual captions in Chinese and Khmer, providing viewers with the stories and meanings behind the images.

By bringing the beauty and uniqueness of Ningbo's culture directly to overseas employees, the exhibition series aims to create a stronger sense of belonging and community among the international workforce. It also serves as a powerful platform to showcase China's rich cultural diversity and its commitment to promoting cross-cultural understanding and cooperation.
