Wuhan takes Europe by storm with vehicle industry tour

From May 11 to 19, Liu Ziqing, secretary of the working committee of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), led a trade delegation to the United Kingdom, Belgium, and the Netherlands to conduct investment promotion activities.

On May 12, local time, in Hethel, Norfolk, the birthplace of Lotus in the United Kingdom, Liu and his delegation visited the company’s British factory.

ARM Holdings, known for designing ARM processor architectures, has partnered with WEDZ to cultivate the unicorn SiEngine Technology Co. On May 13, local time, Liu talked with Philip Stanbury-Jones, vice president of ARM Holdings.

Swansea in Wales, UK, is a sister city of Wuhan. On May 14, local time, the delegation visited Swansea and talked with its mayor, Cllr Graham Thomas. They then toured the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and the Mission of China to the EU.

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is the largest export port and largest automotive port in Europe. On May 17, local time, delegation members talked with the deputy mayor of Antwerp, hoping for the early establishment of a sister port relationship between the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and Wuhan Port.
