On May 15, the 2024 OVC Cross-border E-commerce High-quality Development Conference was held in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), with over 500 industry representatives in attendance. The Wuhan office of Amazon Global Selling announced its launch at the event.

The conference was jointly organized by the Wuhan Cross-border E-Commerce Association, Wuhan Changjiang International Trade Group Co, and Amazon Global Selling. It aimed to integrate platforms, technology, finance, and logistics channels, thus promoting the deep integration of cross-border e-commerce with Hubei's industrial belts. This move is set to further improve the province's cross-border e-commerce industrial chain, supply chain, and ecosystem.

The inauguration of its Wuhan office marks a significant step in strengthening Amazon Global Selling's localized service capabilities and coverage in Central China. It is expected that within three years, Amazon Global Selling will provide comprehensive cross-border e-commerce solutions to over 5,000 local and foreign trade enterprises.

Currently, Amazon Global Selling has opened 19 international selling sites to Chinese sellers, allowing them to directly reach over 300 million consumers in more than 200 countries and regions worldwide.

Seven projects were officially signed during the event, all of which will improve and optimize the local cross-border e-commerce ecosystem.

Several distinguished guests, including Li Shangsong, secretary-general of the Wuhan Cross-border E-Commerce Association, delivered keynote speeches.

The conference also featured an online live broadcast, which attracted over 15,000 viewers in three hours.

OVC's total foreign trade volume accounts for about half of Wuhan's and one-quarter of Hubei province's total. In 2023, the total import and export volume of cross-border e-commerce in the valley reached 11 billion yuan ($1.55 billion), a year-on-year surge of 100 percent.
