Sanya offshore duty-free sales hit 352m yuan during May Day holiday

Total sales of the four offshore duty-free shops in Sanya, under the supervision of Haikou Customs, reached 352 million yuan ($49 million) during the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5.

Since April 26, the Sanya commerce bureau has been proactive in promoting consumption, issuing more than 20 million yuan of vouchers for offshore duty-free shops. By May 3, a total of 655.5 million yuan of the vouchers were utilized, directly promoting consumption of 158.92 million yuan.

The Haikou Customs has been strengthening intelligent supervision amid the shopping peak in Hainan duty-free shops during the five-day holiday. They are making every effort to ensure that popular duty-free goods can be put on shelves and sold in time with the help of the advanced customs clearance system.

It has also given full play to the joint rapid disposal center for offshore duty-free tourists, providing timely and adequate responses to their demands and constantly improving the quality of customs supervision and service.
