On April 23, Xi'an Mayor Ye Niuping met with Lee Jang-woo, mayor of Daejeon city, South Korea, and his delegation.

Ye extended a warm welcome to Lee and his delegation before briefly introducing Xi'an's economic and social development. He emphasized that China and South Korea are neighbors and inseparable cooperative partners.

Xi'an and Daejeon are both members of the World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments. Since the establishment of friendly exchange city relations in 2019, there have been frequent and positive exchanges in the fields of science and technology, economy and trade, and education between the two cities, Ye said.

He expressed the hope that both sides will continue strengthening deep cooperation in areas such as economic and trade investment, technological innovation, and cultural tourism. These efforts will then lead to shared development opportunities, prosperity, and a higher level of win-win cooperation.

Lee expressed his admiration for Xi'an's achievements in the economic and social development. He remarked that Xi'an is not only an ancient capital with a long history, but also a vibrant and modern city with rich educational resources, strong innovation capabilities, a solid industrial foundation, and broad development prospects.

It is hoped that both sides will further deepen intergovernmental exchanges, promote cooperation between enterprises, strengthen economic and trade exchanges, and enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges, Lee added.
