GDD and Huangpu innovates with 30 pioneering IP reforms

In a bid to establish itself as a global hub for intellectual property, Guangzhou's development district (GDD) and Huangpu district have unveiled 30 initiatives aimed at enhancing intellectual property protection and utilization.

These efforts include the creation of nine national-level platforms for intellectual property reform, with a vision to develop a knowledge center with national influence. Notably, Guangzhou has maintained its position as the top-ranked economic and technological development zone nationwide for five consecutive years, reflecting a commitment to fostering a conducive business environment.

Key measures introduced involve bolstering the intellectual property system supply through initiatives like the approval of the general development blueprint for the knowledge city. Additionally, innovative services such as an overseas intellectual property rights assistance platform and the introduction of intellectual property overseas infringement liability insurance highlight the region's commitment to supporting businesses in navigating global markets.

A significant stride is the establishment of a knowledge property finance chain, marked by the issuance of the country's first pure trademark intellectual property securitization product. This complements the development of a comprehensive intellectual property service ecosystem, including the construction of a leading national-level intellectual property service park.

Furthermore, Guangzhou is deepening collaboration with regions like the Greater Bay Area and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, forging partnerships through initiatives such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Intellectual Property Alliance.

These strategic moves underscore Guangzhou's commitment to innovation and high-quality development, positioning itself as a pivotal player in the global intellectual property landscape.
