Xiamen Port in Southeast China's Fujian province, secured the 11th spot in the global ranking of Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (PLSCI) for the first quarter of 2024, as released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

"The PLSCI carries substantial credibility as it is a crucial indicator for measuring a port's development quality and reflecting its position in the global liner shipping network," said an official from Xiamen Port Holding Group. This ranking underscores Xiamen Port's high-quality growth and enhanced resource allocation capability in the global industrial and supply chains, the official added.

In recent years, Xiamen Port has been stepping up efforts to become a globally leading port by fostering a world-class business environment. This ensures unimpeded global industrial and supply chains, promotes sound development of the international shipping industry, and deepens international maritime cooperation.

The PLSCI is a comprehensive index derived from a weighted analysis of multiple indicators, including the number of direct shipping routes, frequency of scheduled ship calls per week, and the number of liner companies providing services from/to the port.

The basic data for this index is sourced from over 1,300 ports globally. Its evaluation criteria are considered comprehensive and objective, accurately reflecting a port's overall service capability.
