In 2024, Shanghai will accelerate the construction of the Hongqiao International Open Hub through measures such as technological innovation, institutional optimization, and strengthening linkage with surrounding areas, according to a work conference on the Hub construction held on April 16.

The conference approved the 2024 key work arrangements, focusing on innovative collaboration, open linkage, and regional coordination, outlining 80 specific tasks to propel the construction of the Hub, the area aiming to deepen reform and coordinate development in the Yangtze River Delta region initiated three years ago.

The framework plan for the Hub construction released three years ago assigned 104 missions, including developing the exhibition industry, attracting more regional headquarters of multinational companies, and facilitating the capital flow in the Yangtze River Delta region. Most of them have been completed.

The Hongqiao International Central Business District, the heart of the Hub, has made remarkable strides in recent years. It has witnessed a surge in tax revenue, import-export volume, and has successfully attracted key projects, setting a promising precedent for the future of the Hub.

The conference emphasized the need to deepen high-level reform and opening up in the business district and leverage the strengths of linked areas to serve the integrated development strategy of the Yangtze River Delta.

Local officials have reiterated their unwavering commitment to the successful implementation of the Hub's construction. They have emphasized the need to focus on target tasks, intensify efforts to enhance policy effectiveness, and ensure the smooth execution of key work. This dedication is expected to significantly contribute to the city's economic growth and achieve the set targets.
