Zhoushan in Zhejiang province has been designated among the 22 national biodiesel promotion pilot areas and is the only one to promote and apply biodiesel within the free trade zone, as recently announced by the National Energy Administration.

Zhoushan's success in this regard is largely due to the implementation of the free trade zone promotion strategy and further expansion of the oil and gas industrial chain, which is part of the city's efforts to open up a new track of clean energy and to build an international new type of ship fueling and refueling center, noted a representative of the Zhoushan Free Trade Zone management committee.

Last year, Zhoushan's ship refueling industry saw rapid development, with a bonded ship refueling volume of 7.04 million metric tons, firmly ranking first in the country and fourth globally among ship refueling ports. It also achieved the first anchorage biofuel oil refueling for container ships and the largest domestic biofuel oil refueling order.

Zhoushan will promote the construction of real-world application scenarios for international navigation vessels using biodiesel, accelerate the commissioning of local production and processing projects, improve storage and logistics facilities, and create new refueling operational standards and other institutional systems.
