Xi'an formalizes sister city bond with Russia's Yekaterinburg

Xi'an Mayor Ye Niuping met with Alexei Orlov, mayor of Yekaterinburg in Russia, to sign an agreement to establish a sister city relationship on April 10.

The two sides will leverage their respective strengths to actively promote cooperation in the fields of technology, education, cultural tourism, and economic trade.

Ye welcomed Orlov and his delegation, and briefly introduced Xi'an's economic and social development in recent years. He stated that Xi'an and Yekaterinburg have maintained close exchanges and frequent interactions, yielding fruitful results in various areas of cooperation. The formal establishment of the sister city relationship signifies a new chapter for friendly relations between the two cities.

Ye expressed the hope for both sides to further deepen practical cooperation in economic and trade exchanges, cultural exchanges, and technological innovation, striving to achieve mutual beneficial results and common development. This effort aims to make greater contributions to the sustainable, healthy, and stable development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Russia in the new era.

Orlov expressed gratitude for the warm reception in Xi'an. He noted that both Xi'an and Yekaterinburg boast rich histories and cultural heritage, while still focusing on modern development.

He hoped that the two sides will further strengthen government exchanges, scientific and technological cooperation, and business collaboration, promoting cultural exchanges, resource complementarity, and people-to-people communication to achieve a higher level of win-win cooperation.
