Quzhou makes strides in improving residents' well-being

Quzhou in Zhejiang province made remarkable strides in enhancing the well-being of its residents in 2023, completing 17 related projects.

Notably, the city introduced 60 specialized classrooms focusing on music, art, physical education, myopia control, and psychological counseling, either through new construction or renovation. Furthermore, it is currently in the process of establishing seven new childcare centers.

Quzhou also took significant steps to cater to its senior population, establishing 109 cafeterias and 226 meal assistance points. Moreover, the city has enhanced its public parks by introducing 13 child-friendly facilities, such as slides and trampolines.

The city has deployed 126 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and provided emergency rescue and first aid training to 216,200 individuals, with 50,400 people receiving certification. Thirty-five new emergency rescue training bases have been established in townships and sub-districts and an additional 3,100 public parking spaces have been added.

In addition to these measures, Quzhou has renovated 1,700 units of affordable housing for industrial workers, and construction has commenced on an additional 5,000 units.

Quzhou has also prioritized public childcare services and cultural activities for children, operating 12 youth centers, organizing 931 cultural activities, and serving nearly 90,000 young people in the community.

A resident surnamed Jiang noted the convenience and affordability of these services which allow children to attend classes near home, facilitating ease of pick-up and drop-off.
