In January of this year, the cargo throughput of the Guoyuan Port National Logistics Hub in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, reached 2.24 million metric tons.

This volume indicates a year-on-year increase of 2.1 percent.

At the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle Work Promotion Conference that was held on Feb 18, a proposal was made to accelerate the construction of a strategic hub that will promote the coordinated development of the Belt and Road Initiative, Yangtze River Economic Belt, and New Western Land-Sea Corridor.

To date, the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, Yangtze River Golden Waterway, and China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu-Chongqing) have been seamlessly connected. In January of this year, the New Western Land-Sea Corridor (Guoyuan Port) oversaw the operation of 84 trains, effectively promoting the development and opening up of the western China.

Over the same period, the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Multimodal Transport Demonstration Base handled 2,600 standard containers, a year-on-year increase of 62.5 percent. These containers have a circulation value of approximately 515.5 million yuan ($71.81 million).

On Jan 16, the Guoyuan Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone successfully exported its first batch of new energy vehicles.
