During the just-concluded Spring Festival holiday, a surge was seen in the tourism market of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

The city's scenic spots, rated 3A-level and above, received 10.61 million visits over the holiday, showing a year-on-year increase of 41 percent.

The popularity of cultural areas and museums has also showed continuous growth during this time. The Shaanxi History Museum, Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum, and the Xi'an Museum organized thousands of Chinese New Year activities that attracted 2.84 million visitors, reflecting a 54.4-percent increase compared to the previous year.

Events such as the Xi'an City Wall Lantern Festival, the Tang Paradise Lantern Festival, and the Kunming Lake Ancient-style Lantern Festival, saw a total ticket revenue that exceeds 50 million yuan ($6.95 million).

In addition, tourism performances were in high demand, with 17 key shows staging a total of 1,377 performances. This generated a ticket revenue of over 100 million yuan.

Meanwhile, Xi'an's ticket sales for box office films during the holiday exceeded 100 million yuan, ranking among the top 10 nationwide.
