Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi province, launched its first hydrogen-powered bus demonstration route in Qingxu county in late January.

Operating from 6 am to 7:30 pm, the No 908 bus line from Qingxu Coach Station to Taiyuan South Railway Station passes through several residential areas and connects several important city locations, including the Taiyuan Central Hospital, Foxconn, the Shanxi Provincial Administrative Service Center, and Shanxi University of Finance and Economics. The line has 44 stops and has a length of about 36 kilometers. The one-way journey takes about 2.5 hours.

During the launch ceremony, the first six hydrogen-powered buses produced by Meijin Energy made their debut. Each bus only requires five to 10 minutes of hydrogen refueling time, enabling a run of over 330 km.

Compared to Taiyuan's current fleet of pure electric buses, hydrogen-powered buses significantly reduce operational preparation time, thereby enhancing operational efficiency. Currently, the city has completed the construction of four hydrogen refueling stations, providing convenient services for hydrogen-powered vehicle owners.

Moreover, the energy conversion by the hydrogen fuel used in these buses results in only electricity, heat, and water vapor, thus achieving true zero emissions and zero pollution.

Equipped with multiple driving safety assistance technologies, these buses can continuously monitor hydrogen concentration, hydrogen bottle pressure, and fuel cell status. When preset conditions are exceeded, the system will automatically cut off power and hydrogen, ensuring overall safety.

With a safety operating mileage that exceeds 100 million km, these buses have reduced carbon emissions by over 80,000 metric tons in the city.
