Yantai vows to attract global attention through wine

At the beginning of the new year, Yantai officially proposed a branded city campaign to promote its wine industry around the world.

In recent years, wines from Yantai have been making their way out of the country and into the world, garnering increasing acclaim. The city's reputation has soared, with numerous gold and silver awards won at prestigious wine competitions both domestically and internationally.

In the past three years alone, Yantai wines have accumulated a total of 505 awards, averaging 168 awards per year, placing it at the forefront among all domestic wine regions.

Official statistics showed that from 2021 to 2023, the total number of awards steadily increased. In 2021, Yantai wines received 86 awards, including four gold awards, 15 silver awards, and 33 bronze awards. In 2023, the total number of awards further increased to 243, including 13 gold awards, 110 silver awards, and 82 bronze awards. The total number of gold and silver awards increased from 19 in 2021 to 123 in 2023.

In the 2023 Chinese brand value evaluation, Yantai wines led the geographical indication products wine list with a brand value of more than 86 billion yuan ($12 billion). The Yantai wine industry was born 132 years ago. During this long period, the city has transformed from being the modest home to a fledgling wine industry to forming an entire industrial chain.

The Yantai wine industry has developed through a rich, diverse, and deeply integrated development model. The grape planting, winery construction, cultural tourism, and other sectors mutually promote one another, jointly building a harmonious industrial ecosystem, not only promoting the vigorous development of local characteristic economies but also increasing farmers' incomes and implementing rural vitalization strategies.
