Ordos agricultural and animal husbandry park begins operations

The Ordos Modern Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Science and Technology Innovation Park, with an investment of 2 billion yuan ($273.97 million), officially commenced operations on Jan 28.

The park was invested in by Ordos Wulan Development Group and started construction in September 2022.

By introducing high-quality germplasm and establishing a breeding system for superior cattle breeds, the park aims to become a national-level modern agricultural and animal husbandry industry park for breeding beef and dairy cattle, as well as for processing meat and dairy products. The park will provide genetic security for national cattle breeding resources.

Over 5,000 head of cattle departed from the port of Portland, in Australia, arrived at the park on Jan 28, after more than 20 days at sea and 60 days of quarantine, marking the official start of the park's operations.
