Nantong, located in Jiangsu province, is blessed with picturesque riverside and coastal views, situated beside the Yangtze River and Huanghai Sea.

The city initiated the construction of the Yangtze River and Huanghai Sea Landscape Belt in 2021, with broad-reaching plans covering an overall area of about 730 square kilometers.

The landscape belt's main section spans about 430 kilometers, with its riverside segment starting from the No 4 Watergate in Rugao and ending in Yuantuojiao scenic area in Qidong. Simultaneously, the coastal part extends from Yuantuojiao to the intersection of Haimen and Dongtai in Yancheng city.

The route seamlessly connects beautiful scenery, thriving townships, poetic countryside, and prosperous industrial parks.

The Haimen-Qinglong Port section is recognized as a model segment, with a road adorned with luxuriant foliage and waterfowls frolicking over the river. Qin Guorong, a 70-year-old who has lived near the port his whole life, spoke with regret of the past when the area was dominated by chemical plants, leading to poor air quality and gray skies.

Qin then expressed his admiration of the great changes made in his hometown, noting that he now takes daily walks along the road since more parks have been established and greeneries have been planted.

Last year, an additional 145 km of riverside and coastal roads was beautified, marking the completion of the landscape belt. Local authorities are committed to taking all necessary measures to effectively manage the water, landscape, and facilities along the belt and preserve this hard-earned achievement.
