Rural vitalization well undergoing in Qingdao

Qingdao, a city in China eastern Shandong province, has been dedicated to exploring new ways and good experiences for rural vitalization.

The city has organized various cultural performance across its rural areas, allowing locals to enjoy cultural shows at their doorsteps. In Dachang, a town in the West Coast New Area, more 150 colorful traditional folk cultural activities have been staged in the town's 78 natural villages.

Ecological preservation and environmental upgrade is also stressed in the city's effort for rural vitalization. In Chanzhihu village, Shuiji subdistrict of Laixi, a green and landscape park has been recently built along the river running through the village, which has now become a popular destination for leisure among locals.

The city considered skilled talents as key players in rural vitalization. By organizing rural vitalization skills competitions and other activities, the West Coast New Area has built a platform for rural skilled talents to display their superb skills and learn from each other, guide the rural labor force to develop skills and increase their income, and strengthen the construction of rural talent teams.

Various fairs, including the Yellow River Fair, have been hosted in various villages across Qingdao to promote local trade of agricultural specialties and intangible cultural products.

Investment has also been directed to villages for infrastructure upgrade. In Huangniya village in the Laoshan Scenic Area, with investment from Qingdao Hi-Tech Industrial Development Co Ltd, a street dedicated to selling local specialties has been built. Covering an area of more than 1,000 square meters, the street is also complete with cafes, Western restaurants and other stores, offering locals a new platform to develop and increase their income.
