Wuxi Vocational College of Science and Technology recently organized a series of cultural exchange activities for its international students, aiming to strengthen cultural bonds through the exploration of China's rich heritage.

The events included paper-cutting workshops, Chinese calligraphy sessions, and a New Year's gala. During the paper-cutting workshop, Liu Qing, an associate professor from the School of Culture and Tourism, provided a detailed introduction to the history, techniques, and cultural significance of the intangible cultural heritage craft. Students from Indonesia then carved a variety of vivid dragons, immersing themselves in the unique charm of the art.

The Chinese calligraphy workshop featured prominent members from the Wuxi Elderly Calligraphy and Painting Association, including Xu Shangde, executive vice-chairman and secretary-general of the association's branch in Xinwu district of Wuxi. Participating international students learned the skills of brush writing and experienced the captivating allure of Chinese calligraphy.

A cross-cultural gala was held prior to the New Year, where both local and international students performed dance with distinctive Chinese features. Elisabeth Helena, an Indonesian student, expressed her deep appreciation for the care she received from teachers and peers, saying, "As my Chinese becomes more fluent over time, I am increasingly drawn to Chinese culture. I will introduce Chinese traditional arts such as calligraphy, opera, and paper-cutting to friends in my home country."
