WND off to a flying start with major project kickoffs in Q1

In the first quarter of 2024, Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as Wuxi New District, will witness commencement of numerous of significant projects, setting the pace for a year of dynamic growth.

The quarter will witness the initiation of 30 major projects. Total investment for these projects has reached 70.86 billion yuan ($9.91 billion), with 9.66 billion yuan allocated to be spent within this year. Among the highlights of the initiative is the $500-million investment from Siemens, which is intended for the construction of an intelligent digital factory specializing in medium-voltage gas-insulated switchgear and components. The factory is expected to have an annual output of 100,000 pieces of equipment.

Additionally, the first three months of the year will see the groundbreaking for the 700-million-yuan Wuxi International Life-Science Innovation Campus Phase III and the 610-million-yuan Hongshan Innovation Base Phase II in the WND Biopharmaceutical Industrial Park.

WND anticipates the completion of 30 projects by year's end, with a total investment of 36.53 billion yuan. Among these is the electrical motor R&D and production base of German company VEM Group. With a total investment of 1.05 billion yuan, the base promises the annual production of 1,500 motors, control systems, and wind power generators.
