The Hefei Area of the China (Anhui) Pilot Free Trade Zone has been focusing on institutional innovation, sci-tech innovation and industrial development to drive its development forwards.

It's situated in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, or Hefei high-tech zone – located in Hefei city, capital of East China's Anhui province.

Since its approval in September 2020, more than 80 institutional innovations have been devised there. Of these, five cases have been successfully introduced and popularized across the entire country, while 34 cases have been reproduced and popularized within the province.

The five national innovations are an intellectual property pledge financing model, a credit note financing model for science and innovation enterprises, an ownership reform model for sci-tech achievements, an institutional innovation – for the synergistic development of science, technology, industry and finance – and a one-stop service system for resident expat personnel talent.

Additionally, a significant achievement in the Hefei Area is the commercialization of sci-tech breakthroughs, achieved through a reform model being implemented in tandem with the University of Science and Technology of China. The model is widely said to have sparked greater entrepreneurial enthusiasm and initiatives among researchers.

Moving forwards, plans are in motion for the Hefei Area of the Anhui Pilot FTZ to further improve the regional business environment and contribute to the overall development of the high-tech zone.
