WND's Dafangqiao village attains provincial-level special countryside recognition

Dafangqiao village, located in Xinwu district, or Wuxi New District, in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, has recently been recognized as a provincial-level special countryside.

Renowned for its rich historical and cultural heritage, as well as its picturesque natural environment, Dafangqiao has been dedicated to developing industries with its own characteristics and promoting its unique culture.

For example, grapes locally produced in the village have earned recognition from China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs as pollution-free. They have also been awarded the Green Food Grade A certificate by the China Green Food Development Center. Additionally, the village has established a pear orchard spanning more than 3 hectares to extend the local industrial chain.

Dafangqiao village has also successfully integrated cultural and tourism elements into its identity. By leveraging unique tourism routes and hosting events like village markets, it has significantly boosted agricultural product sales.

Continuous efforts have also been made to enhance the rural environment. Infrastructure development projects, including road renovations and the construction of new public toilets, have been implemented. Furthermore, a comprehensive service hall providing employment and dispute resolution services has been established. The village has also set up a cultural service center and a community health service station, catering to residents' cultural, sports, and healthcare needs.

Dafangqiao remains committed to preserving its traditional character. Initiatives are underway to integrate traditional residences and granaries into the modern landscape and promote synergy between traditional building preservation, industrial development, and rural revitalization.
