The Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently released an announcement confirming 53 locations in the third batch of national tourism and leisure streets.

The Chinese-Baroque Historic Block in the city of Harbin in China's northernmost Heilongjiang province made it onto the list.

Built almost a century ago and covering 288,300 square meters, the buildings here sport a Western baroque exterior, while retaining the traditional layout of Chinese courtyards inside.

Special care has been implemented to preserve these Chinese Baroque-style buildings. As an origin of Harbin's industry and trade, the block features historical sites and well-known intangible cultural heritage customs.

It now serves as a diverse cultural, tourism, and commercial block.
