Nansha scenic area on Zhujiajian Island in Putuo district, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province has been designated as a national 4A tourist attraction, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced on Dec 19.
The scenic area boasts fine sand and an expansive beachfront, with a depth ranging from 0.5 meters to two meters in waters within 1,000 meters from shore.
During the summer, the seawater in the area is clean and clear, and the water temperature ranges from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius. It is an ideal place for tourists to relax on the beach, play in the waves, and engage in various beach activities. The waters can accommodate up to 20,000 people at once, more than the vast majority of beachfront areas in China.
The well-known Zhoushan International Sand Sculpture Festival is held in the area every year.
Zhoushan is currently home to 35 A-level tourist attractions, including one 5A-level attraction, six 4A-level attractions, and 20 3A-level attractions.
