The Wuxi International Conference Center in the Wuxi Economic Development District, East China's Jiangsu province, opened to the public on Dec 20.

The most eye-catching aspect of its design is its roof's resemblance to Taihu stone, which is a specialty of Wuxi and is a type of rock with holes that was widely used in classical Chinese gardens.

Glass curtain walls with blind design create a simple and dynamic exterior while the metal lattice on the roof vividly imitates Taihu stones' porous feature.

The 120,000-square meter conference center houses China's only column-free multi-functional conference hall with an area of over 10,000 sq m, a 1,216-seat ladder-style hall, a 6,000-sq m Central Hall which will be open to the public for relaxation or exhibitions, and more than 60 conference rooms.

Covering an area of 10,000 square meters, the Taihu Lake Hall is capable of accommodating more than 10,000 people and can be divided into four separate spaces.

In addition, With low-carbon design and intelligent manufacturing the conference center is eco-friendly. For example, the photovoltaic panels on the roof will satisfy public lighting demands.

Wuxi International Conference and Exhibition Park also opened on the same day, which includes the Wuxi International Conference Center, Taihu International Expo Center, Wuxi Olympic Sports Center, Wuxi Culture and Art Center, Wuxi International Tennis Center, and the World Taekwondo (Wuxi) Center.
