Hefei high-tech zone acts to boost urban development

The Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone – located in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province – is the main hub for scientific and industrial innovation in the city.

As such, it's promoting urban development based on the principle of fostering a sound environment, gathering talented people, creating a pleasant city and boosting industrial growth – a process it's begun in recent years.

With Hefei striving to build itself into a comprehensive national science center, the high-tech zone is focusing on high-standard planning, high-quality industrial development and high-quality construction of support facilities.

The zone is taking the construction of a world-leading science and technology park as the guiding principle and the optimization and improvement of existing resources as the goal.

In that spirit, it's carried out special planning for urban renewal with an intensive use of land resources and an improvement of the quality of its spatial construction.

Around beautiful Wangju Lake in the zone, there are a number of major international engineering research institutes and large high-end research projects. These include the CAS Center for Excellence in Quantum Information and Quantum Physics and the high-tech park for the local University of Science and Technology of China.

By cultivating such premier industries, the zone is activating an  engine for urban development. Also, by constructing key support facilities – such as housing, transportation infrastructure and public service facilities – it is creating a model livable city.
