Wuxi National Hi-tech District, also known as Wuxi New District (WND), in East China's Jiangsu province has secured the second position in the list of the top 30 Chinese integrated circuits (IC) industrial parks, just behind the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park in Shanghai.

This marks the second time that WND has received the honor, which was announced at the 2024 Semiconductor Investment Annual Meeting held on Dec 16 in Beijing, a prestigious event in the semiconductor industry.

Wuxi National Hi-tech District has developed a comprehensive IC industrial chain covering chip design, wafer manufacturing, packaging, testing, and support services. The district has become a hub for over 400 IC enterprises, with industry giants such as SK Hynix, Huahong Integrated Circuit, CR Micro leading the way.

In the period from January to October 2023, the output of the IC industry in WND exceeded 130 billion yuan ($18.29 billion), with a projected annual total surpassing 145 billion yuan.

The district's success can be attributed to its proactive approach in constructing a robust policy framework that provides substantial support for industrial development. Additionally, it has been unwavering in its commitment to strengthening the cultivation of talent, boasting a workforce of 68,000 individuals dedicated to the integrated circuit sector.

Looking ahead, the district aims to achieve a breakthrough in the IC industry's output value, setting an ambitious target to surpass 200 billion yuan by the end of 2025.
