New mobility strategies highlighted at Global Mayors' Forum

The Global Mayors' Forum opened on Dec 7 in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province. Representatives from the city of Mannheim, Germany shared their strategies for addressing the challenges posed by the adoption of new energy vehicles and their impressions of the parks in Guangzhou.

Mannheim Official Christian Wolfgang Huber pointed out that in response to the rise of new energy vehicles, the city is reforming its automotive industry and urban transportation models. He emphasized the importance of transitioning to electrification and public transportation systems. The city is currently implementing a "5-minute Walk Circle" project and promoting cycling to reduce dependence on automobiles.

City Councilor Melanie Seidenlanz said she was deeply impressed by the parks in Guangzhou, adding that she appreciated how residents integrate the parks into their daily lives. She said she hopes Mannheim can draw inspiration from Guangzhou in this regard.
