In 2022, the electronic information industry in Liangjiang New Area achieved an output value of 218.4 billion yuan ($30.73 billion), constituting 30 percent of the economic output of the industry in Chongqing municipality and hosting more than 4,000 enterprises in the industry and relevant areas.
The new-generation electronic information manufacturing industry stood out as one of the major industries in Liangjiang. Specifically, the display sector witnessed a 2021 output of 60 billion yuan and aimed to reach a 100-billion-level scale by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25).
Liangjiang-based ATG is China's sole producer of Kunlun Glass, recognized by SGS as the world's first five-star unbreakable glass that is prominently featured in Huawei smartphones. This innovative glass, composed of billions of high-strength nanocrystals, exhibits exceptional impact resistance and withstands drops 10 times better than other kinds of smartphone glass.
The company saw a record revenue of 450 million yuan in the first half of 2023, surging 240 percent year-on-year.

To date, the new area has attracted more than 25 suppliers covering backlight modules (BLM), polarizers, and glass substrates, providing crucial support to the burgeoning display sector.
Chongqing Highbroad Display Technology inaugurated its BLM factory and R&D center in Liangjiang earlier this month. The BLM factory, boasting 10 production lines, aims for an annual production capability of 34.3KK.
The R&D center will concentrate on pioneering processes and technologies.
Liangjiang's laptop sector features notable manufacturers such as Compal Electronics and Wistron, while the integrated circuit sector has cultivated a comprehensive industrial chain covering materials, design, wafer fabrication, and assembly. AT&S, Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Ltd, as well as other leading players in the sector, have settled in Liangjiang.
The smartphone sector's chain covers the manufacturing of phones, cameras, and mainboards as well as product inspection, and supply chain services.
Service specialists and liaison officers are assigned to companies to provide lifecycle services and support business growth, according to Kang Guangrong, a member of the Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee.
As a core area of the China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone and a major part of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, Liangjiang presents advantages in terms of its business environment, innovation platforms, factors of production, talent pool, and urban function, making it an attractive investment destination, added Kang.

Liangjiang New Area is the first national-level development and opening-up area in inland China. Occupying less than 1.5 percent of Chongqing's territory, it contributes 15 percent of the municipality's GDP, 20 percent of its industrial output above designated size, 30 percent of its actually utilized foreign capital, and 40 percent of its export-import volume.
