Placing importance on gathering and nurturing talent, Qingdao, a coastal city in Shandong province, recently ranked among the top 10 on lists of the most attractive cities in China for talent born after 1995 and foreign talent.

By organizing study camps at home and job fairs at universities, Qingdao has managed to bring in talent from a variety of backgrounds.

According to statistics, from January to October, Qingdao held over 240 recruitment events at universities. The city also collaborated with 16 companies to hold internship camps for PhD students, attracting talent from all over the world.

"The government-led recruitment cluster pattern greatly enhances the visibility of Qingdao enterprises," Said Zhang Yanjun, who is in charge of recruitment at Qingdao Huanghai University.

In addition to attracting talent, Qingdao has also been optimizing its entrepreneurship incubation system.

According to Zhou Wendi, founder of Limmai Equipment, Qingdao's One-stop Cultivation model is indispensable in helping him blend into the domestic market and commercialize his innovative ideas.

Qingdao has built an Entrepreneurship Empowerment Center and a consulting team including over 200 scholars and investors to help young talent develop their businesses, involving 3.726 million entrepreneurs in its training.

Talent care is yet another priority. Settling-in allowances, internship living allowances and rent subsidies are being issued to university graduates.

By the end of October, Qingdao had attracted 136,600 young talents, including 1,034 individuals with doctoral degrees, a year-on-year growth of 19.7 percent.
