Two districts in Qingdao have once again made the list of the top 100 counties and districts in the country in terms of comprehensive strength.

The county-level city of Jiaozhou claimed 26th among the top 100 counties and cities, while Jimo district achieved 14th on the top 100 districts list.

In 2022, Jiaozhou experienced a GDP growth rate of 5 percent, ranking second in Qingdao and far exceeding the national average GDP growth rate. This achievement can be attributed to its strategic advantages, such as being an SCO Demonstration Zone and Jiaodong Airport Demonstration Economic Zone.

To date, Jiaozhou has formed six industrial systems for machinery and equipment, smart homes, food processing, aerospace, biomedicine, and new-generation IT, helping stabilize regional economic development.

In 2022, Jimo posted a GDP growth rate of 2.6 percent. The district made the list of the top 100 districts in the country in terms of green development, sci-tech innovation, and the quality of new urbanization. Jimo has a rich industrial heritage, with a notable focus on the automotive industry. In 2022, its automobile manufacturing output reached 60.4 billion yuan ($8.44 billion), accounting for about 60 percent of Qingdao's total.

Jimo has also become increasingly important in sci-tech innovation. It is home to 28 national scientific research institutes and has established 25 campuses or research institutes of universities and colleges. Jimo's marine sector output is expected to surpass 59 billion yuan this year with a growth rate exceeding 9 percent.
