County in Guilin recognized as ecological civilization construction area

Ziyuan county was included in the seventh batch of national ecological civilization construction demonstration areas in October, indicating that the county has made achievements in green development and ecological civilization construction.

Ziyuan county launched several measures to restore and protect its ecological environment. This includes improving the quality of its nature reserves and rectifying illegal constructions. The county has a forest coverage rate of 83.01 percent, excellent air quality, and stable water quality that meets or exceeds the standard.

The county has also made efforts to develop its under-forest economy and traditional Chinese medicine industry. The total planting area of its under-forest ecology reaches 55,333 hectares, and it has an annual output value of over 1.1 billion yuan ($153.32 million). The county has also emphasized the cultivation of its traditional Chinese medicine sector, resulting in the sector achieving an annual output of 35,400 metric tons.

Additionally, Ziyuan county is committed to building world-class tourist towns. By improving its scenic spots, launching new products, and organizing cultural tourism activities, the county plans to elevate the quality of its ecological tourism sector.
