The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport, and six other departments on Nov 13 jointly issued the "Notice on Launching the First Batch of Comprehensive Vehicle Electrification Pilot Zones in the Public Domain."

In the wake of extensive research, 15 cities, including Ordos, Beijing, Shenzhen, Chongqing and Chengdu, were selected as the pilot cities.

The notice aims to encourage the exploration and formation of replicable and promotable experiences and models, playing an exemplary leading role in the full-scale marketization of new energy vehicles and the construction of a green and low-carbon transportation system.

The notice sets three main objectives: significant improvement in vehicle electrification, strong support from charging and battery swapping service systems, and the continued innovation of new technologies and models.

It also highlights four key tasks: improving the level of vehicle electrification, promoting the innovative application of new technologies, perfecting the charging and battery swapping infrastructure, and strengthening policy and management systems.
