Recently, an endangered corsac fox was spotted by a photography enthusiast in Heishantou township of Ergune, a county-level city overseen by Hulunbuir in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The fox was searching for winter food on a vast white snowfield. After finding food it will use its paws to dig a hole and bury the food in the snow, preparing for a long winter.
In 2008, the corsac fox (Vulpes corsac) was listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The animal generally has a body length of 50 to 60 centimeters and a tail length of 25 to 35 centimeters. It weighs about 2 to 3 kilograms, making it the smallest fox species in China. It mainly inhabits grasslands, deserts and semi-deserts, feeding mainly on rodents.
"I like to photograph all kinds of wild animals. As the ecological environment gets better, there are more of them. I hope everyone can protect wildlife and cherish the ecological environment," photographer Liu Dong said.
